First Time Guests
What happens on Sundays?
A Warm and Secure Welcome
As you and your preschooler enter The Heights, you will both be greeted by our greeters at the Information Desk in the Atrium. They will be happy to direct you to the Preschoolers at The Heights Desk, where you will receive a nametag for your child and a corresponding receipt for yourself. You will then enter into a world focused on teaching your child biblical truths. Once your child is dropped off at the age-appropriate classroom, he will enter into a positive experience of learning and fun planned just for him.
Your preschooler will be encouraged to participate in opening activities such as building with blocks, coloring a picture, working a puzzle, preparing a pretend meal, or reading a book. The teacher will use these activities to reinforce each week's biblical truth.
Our curriculum, First Look, gives preschoolers their first impression of their loving heavenly Father.
Three basic truths are the foundation of First Look:
GOD MADE ME.
GOD LOVES ME.
JESUS WANTS TO BE MY FRIEND FOREVER.
First Look consist of 4 main elements, Make It Fun, Make It True, Make It Stick, and Make It Real.
1)MAKE IT FUN!
Make it Fun helps introduce children to aspects of the upcoming Bible Story. It welcomes and engages children.
2)MAKE IT TRUE!
Make It True incorporates an introductory sketch, a Bible story, and a time of worship.
3) MAKE IT STICK!
To reinforce the Bible Story, your child will experience activities that are active, crafty, and sometimes delicious that will enhance the bottom line.
4) MAKE IT REAL!
At this fun time, your child will understand how the bottom line of the story applies to him. Older children will discuss real life experiences and share prayer requests.
5) Parents can find monthly information on our curriculum under “Just for Parents – Monthly Letter or Parent Cue."
Playgrounds & Playrooms
For 15 minutes, your child will get to release some energy on one of our age appropriate indoor playrooms or outdoor playgrounds.
A snack is provided for your preschooler during their stay in Preschool. The snack traditionally consists of saltines and water. Allergy Alerts will be posted outside of each classroom's door if the lesson plans call for a different snack. Please inform your child's teacher of any allergies during the drop-off process. Allergy Alert stickers are also available for your preschooler to wear. If you are interested in recieving an allergy alert email each week, simply click on "Allergy Alert" above and request that your name be added to the weekly email group. You can also find Allergy Alerts posted on the Preschoolers' Facebook page, by clicking on the picture to the left.
When you pick up your child from class, the teacher will help gather your child's belongings and art work. The teacher will check your receipt and your child's nametag for a match before releasing your preschooler into your care.
